Re: Tyreke Evans Speeding

clicktotweet.com He was clocked between 120 and 130 miles per hour, which is far too fast. The punishment for his speed was kind of a slap on the wrist, but it now appears that Tyreke Evans will have to also serve a 10 game suspension that the NBA said needed to be handed down by his time. The situation reminded many of Josh Howard’s 2008 arrest. The arrest occurred while he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks. However, he was going much slower than Tyreke Evans was when he was caught by police. The behavior that Tyreke Evans has exhibited should not be tolerated by his team or the NBA. Traveling at those speeds is very dangerous, and he put other lives in danger while doing so. Over a decade ago Bobby Phills, a former NBA player, was killed in a race with his former teammate David Wesley. He lost control of his car and ran into another vehicle. That incident alone has shown how the NBA should handle cases where its players are caught speeding or racing. Celtics – Lakers – Game 2 – NBA Finals 2010

Allen shoots lights out to take homecourt from Lakers! This was the earlier Rajon Rondo of the NBA playoffs. This was the one who declared himself the best point guard in the league. Not the one who came up lame in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. This was the all-around Rondo, who had a series of huge plays late, including a jumper to ice the game. Rondo’s play and the explosive first half by Ray Allen proved too much for the Lakers as the Celtics pulled away with a 103-94 victory in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at Staples Center Sunday. “Tonight was unbelievable,” said Celtics coach Doc Rivers of Rondo. “He was special tonight.” Rondo finished with 19 points, 10 assists, 12 rebounds and two steals. This marked his second triple-double this postseason and the fifth in his postseason career. After being plagued by foul trouble in Game 1 and scoring just 12 points, Allen absolutely thrashed the Lakers with his silky smooth shot. He finished with a game-high 32 points, 27 of which came in the first half. He also set an NBA Finals record for most 3-pointers in a game by going 8-for-11 from deep. “It’s definitely right up there,” said Allen of setting the record and where this performance ranks in his career. “(It’s) great to be able to look back on it and say I did that.” With the victory, the Celtics even the series at 1-1 and take homecourt advantage away from the Lakers. The next three games will be in Boston with Game 3 on Tuesday. Though this game was decided in the final minutes

Lakers – Celtics – Game 5 – NBA Finals 2010

Paul Pierce scored 15 points, Rajon Rondo added 10, and the Boston Celtics took a 45-39 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers into halftime of Game 5 of the NBA finals on Sunday night. Kevin Garnett made all three shots and had eight points and seven rebounds as Boston had two of its Big Three playing well at the same time for one of the few occasions in the series. Pierce made 7-of-10 shots. The Celtics were trying to take a 3-2 lead and move a win away from increasing their NBA-best total to 18 championships. They shot 66 percent and led at halftime for the first time since Game 2. Kobe Bryant scored 10 points on just 4-of-12 shooting for the Lakers, who shot just 33 percent. Andrew Bynum played 18 minutes and had six points, three nights after his sore right knee forced him to leave Game 4 after only 12 minutes. He and Derek Fisher (nine points) helped Los Angeles end a slow start. A message on the overhead video board before the Celtics’ starting lineups were introduced read: “The final stand at the Garden.” They made it a good one in the first half. The Lakers missed their first six shots as Boston jumped ahead 6-0, but Bynum and Fisher combined for the first 15 Los Angeles points for a 15-14 lead when Fisher hit three free throws with 4:58 remaining in the first quarter. Pierce hit jumpers for the Celtics’ final two baskets of the period, sending them to the second with a 22-20 lead. Bryant was only 1 for 4, shooting an airball and missing badly on another jumper. The

Lakers – Celtics – Game 4 – NBA Finals 2010

Celtics bench presses all the right buttons in Boston win! It was slow. It was ugly. It was physical. At times Game 4 felt like it was more a product of the 1990’s than the current, more perimeter-oriented league. But all of it was conducive to the operation of the Boston Celtics. Especially the bench. With a series-tying 96-89 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Celtics dominated — in as much as anything was truly dominated — points in the paint, 54-34, and got 36 crucial points off the bench, including 21 in the fourth quarter. In fact, the bench, composed of Nate Robinson, Glen Davis, Tony Allen and Rasheed Wallace played so well in the fourth quarter that Celtics coach Doc Rivers had to choose whether to keep the barnburners in, or return to his veterans. He opted to wait. As the fourth quarter reached the stage when Rivers would traditionally begin bringing his starters back in, he imposed a rule: if the Lakers got within six points, the bench squad was coming out. “I don’t think [the starters] really care, and that’s what makes us ?? that’s why we’re here, it really is,” River said. “Hell, Rondo and all of them, they were begging me to keep guys in. ‘Don’t take them out! Don’t take them out!’ It was great. That was the loudest I’ve seen our bench, and it was our starters cheering from the bench.” “I was really looking at the clock thinking, ‘Man, when is he going to take us out,’ Davis said. “I want to give Doc a hug man. I sure appreciate it.” The Lakers

Lakers Intro- 2009 NBA Season

Celtics – Lakers – Game 1 – NBA Finals 2010

Lakers’ defense shines in Finals-opening win over Celtics! The talk coming into the game circled around how the Celtics’ defense may rival that of the 2008 championship team. On Thursday, the Lakers showed their rendition of defense. They took charges. They caused deflections. They altered and rejected shots inside. In short, they frustrated Boston. That defense coupled with a late third-quarter spurt helped the defending champs deliver an emphatic blow to the Celtics, winning 102-89 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Staples Center. “I think people forget how good we are defensively,” Lakers forward Lamar Odom said. No one is forgetting how dominating Phil Jackson’s teams are after winning Game 1 in a series as his teams are a perfect 47-0. But a reminder of the Lakers’ ultimate goal was apparent in the locker room after the game. Scribbled in black on a white board directly across Kobe Bryant’s locker was the phrase “3 Mo.” “We’re counting down,” said Odom, whose team is now 9-0 at home in the postseason with Game 2 on Sunday. Leading the way for the Lakers in the series opener was Bryant, who had a game-high 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists. He has now scored 30-plus in 10 of his last 11 contests. Pau Gasol had a terrific all-around game with 23 points, 14rebounds and three blocks. Ron Artest chipped in 15. The dominating fashion in which the Lakers, who led by as many as 20 points, took Game 1 was surprising, even to Boston’s Paul Pierce. That’s because they have
